My whole life I was raised to know we were the OPPOSITE of the Soviets. America was nothing like that. We were free, the best in the world and people flocked here from those countries when the USSR fell.
I am fucking DISGUSTED that this woman is experiencing this on American soil. I’m sickened.

I just made the mistake of reading the comments in that Twitter thread. The fact that those people STILL believe that forcing a business to stay completely shut is saving lives shows how lost so many people still are.

Yep. They’ve seriously convinced themselves that nothing else matters in the world besides stopping COVID. How anyone can think that’s a) still possible a year later, and b) humane is beyond me.

Rich people that are against this shit, need to bail out, and cover legal fees for these people. They need to support them fully, as to encourage others to do the same. I may have to figure out how to donate to any local instances of people standing up for our freedoms.

Court cases require the truth, under penalty of perjury. And the transcripts will be available forever to future researchers, unlike blogs, news articles and Reddit comments which could be memoryholed.

She immigrated to the U.S. years ago in search of freedom and prosperity only to be subjected to the same type of treatment she would have under the dictatorship in her home country back then.
This is a similar situation to what happened with the pastor here in Canada, and I find it even more disturbing this level of tyranny has now spread into the U.S. considering Americans tend to be far less tolerant towards violations of constitutional rights. If this can happen in America, then the free world is seriously on the verge of being lost.
I'm glad to know that Marlena is getting a lot of help and support. Hopefully she won't have to spend the time in prison that Pastor Coates has (he's still there BTW even though he was supposed to be released today which brings a concern if they really are going to let him go). We need to stand together and push back now before it's too late. It's time we let all politicians and government officials know we're not going to take this anymore, and demand they put an end to all this enforcement which is way too close for comfort to communism.

Her food license was suspended because she dared to serve her customers and broke orders, not laws. Since she kept operating without the license, she gets arrested. This situation is particularly disgusting to me, as getting your license revoked typically only happens because of the lack of quality of the food, or prep techniques, and it shouldn't be used to bend the will of people to our governor.

This is America. You are not allowed to run a small business nor restaurants for a living. You are not allowed to own rental properties to rent out. Those renters don’t have to pay.
