Their best.
Doubtful.
I've seen this happen many times, the crusading army AI decides it is a better idea to swim around the Arabian peninsula in order to land on the other side of Jerusalem than to start siege from the usual side. Nevermind that just walking there the attrition and resulting troop loss would be much smaller, but I guess AI is hell-bent on avoiding loss of troops caused by travelling more than 1 county deep into enemy territory.
“staying away from you” Tobey Maguire in Spiderman
Aw, guys, c'moooooon... Guuuuuys!
Yup seen this happen in my name too. AI wants a sight seeing tour
Had the same happen to me in a Sicily game, apparently the Holy Roman emperor, King of France and King of England, after landing 5 ft away from the Levant, decide that the best course of action is going around the Arabian peninsula and starving until the Fatimid sultan feels pity or something, let's say that after the Pope alongside the Duke of Lombardy, actively starving, landed directly next to a Fatimid doomstack, my 5000 Sicilian soldiers and mercenaries couldn't carry the crusade
R5: The crusade is for Jerusalem, yet for some reason all of the crusaders are heading towards the fucking TIGRIS RIVER?! WHY?! God, I hate the AI in this game.
They just did this to me to... the pope and his band of merry men chased a 55 man levy group through the desert for a few years and they pretty much all died from attrition.
This is some Monty Python level stuff
Cleary you should read up on the crusades after the 1st. They did some pretty dumb shit
This. The Fourth Crusade started with "We're going to retake the Holy Land from the Saracens," and ended with "Lol we just sacked Constantinople, the largest city in Christendom, because we were big mad with the Emperor, thus paving the way for the Ottomans to come along in a few years and de-Christianize Asia Minor forever. Oops?"
Mondays am I right guys?
Lmao don't you sometimes just
just sack Constantinople?
Ok, fine, we've heard that excuse in every single thread about crusades needing work, but is it fun to experience in the game?
True
This is what I do every time i get called on a crusade. Sack a couple castles on the outskirts of the conflict, generate some war score and some $$, go home, maybe snag some land from the neighbors that's rightfully mine while their out.
