Positive after two weeks and 3 days of exposure.

Tested Positive - Me

I'm an undergrad student at UIUC and we have required twice a week saliva pcr covid testing. I also have my first shot of moderna. I spent four hours unmasked two weeks and 3 days ago with friends in an apt where someone there ended up having covid. A bunch of people tested positive 3-5 days after (B117 variant for anyone curious) but my roommate and I have been testing negative since then. Last night i tested and this morning my results came back as positive. My roommate who was also there is still testing negative. I have no symptoms so far, everything tastes and smells pretty good but I can't believe it took so long for me to finally test positive.

Timeline

March 5th - exposed to covid

March 8th - first negative covid test

March 9th - four people test positive and I am notified

March 10th - negative covid test (another person who wasn't there but lived at the apt where spread happened tests positive)

March 11th - negative covid test

March 13th - negative covid test

March 16th - negative covid test

March 20th - negative covid test

March 22nd - positive covid test

Here's the paper regarding how they do their speical pcr testing. 0% false positive/negatives apparently

Here is also a link for our daily covid cases for anyone curious

An update for you all. I signed up for study ran by the university where they wanted me to do 3 types of covid tests a day at home during isolation. (and I get paid $20/day for when I'm in the study)

Did my first test today and it already came back negative lol
