Hello from zone 1
Hell yeah!!! Great work!
What’d you do? i’m California as well between zone 9b and 10a and i have one I’m trying to propagate rn, soil is mainly clay because it’s LA.
I tried different ways. First step is chopping top off, than hand pull of extra meat from green top. Than stuff in water thinking it would root, indoors. Than same first step and straight into soil in a pot (potting soil). Second method finally worked. I think I had three or four in pot, all but this guy died off
I'm super excited to have a baby, stuck it in raised bed with store bought soil, compost, etc to see if I can keep it alive
yeah i’m trying the water method too, i’m hoping i can get it to work by chance but i still have to see so thank you for your insight
She’s already beautiful
Could you please tell us how you did it?
Best method I've found was to cut top off store bought, straight to pot with potting soil. Oh, before I forget, I added cinnamon to soil to act like rooting hormone (I add cinnamon to all plants, seeds or propagating)
Cut off top, hand pull meat from the green, add directly into soil
I had 3 or 4 in pot, others died from inner leaves out. This guy I transferred to raised bed. It seems to want to fight to live. The dead guy were still around it, and I was at a giving up point when this guy popped back up through the death
I live in South Georgia. I have done this at least once a year in a pot. Finally after 3 years, I have my first actual pineapple. We are zone 8b. Good luck!!!!
My backyard is clay... I use potash in veggie garden to help retain moisture. My herb garden is in separate raised bed. Just be careful, not all plants like alkaline soil. I leave some areas with just sprinkled used coffee grounds
That's exciting!!
