Just in time for the new super strain from India

Ppl are downvoting you FoR BeInG RaCiSt but it's a genuine worry. 2 most common sources of quarantine hotel travellers are India and the UK. There was a thread just the other week on worldnews where people were reporting dead people just lying in the street in major provinces in India and the local governments are basically disregarding covid protocols.

tldr - 800 ppl a week from April 8th. Ramping up to 1000+ after all quarantine hotels have been assessed and upgraded if need be.

The home quarantine thing is clickbait. Won't happen.

I still don't know how home quarantine for several thousand people at a time would work short of something like ankle bracelets.

Even if there are enough resources to do home visits a few times a day to check for compliance, people will still figure out how to duck up the shops quickly or have someone over and with mask and capacity rules being relaxed again this week, all it takes will be 1 person to fuck it up.

There's 0% chance home quarantine would be an effective solution. You can't trust the public.

How many times in the last year did we hear people that were supposed to be home quarantining weren’t home? Can’t put your trust in the public, most are idiots and selfish.

Home quarantine? They're dreaming! I remember there was a bogan chick who was supposed to quarantine at a facility in Darwin and she escaped the facility by jumping over the fences with her luggages!

Didnt it turn out that the numbers Andrews was referencing were false? It was more that police didnt look at the supplied address people had put on their arrival cards when they returned to Australia and instead went to addresses listed on drivers licenses etc?

"There is also a renewed call to consider some form of home quarantine, and other quarantine options as part of managing the increased risk of contagion from new variants."

Yes, because a less controlled environment will work heaps better.

Hell no to home quarantine. Hotel quarantine hasn't been perfect. But i guarantee the whole county would have been fucked if it was 'stay at home' . Because you can't trust people not to just go out when they are bored.

Fucking hell. Here goes my in-person classes at my uni. I absolutely hate online classes due to my hearing disability.

I have some hearing difficulties, and mostly online Uni was fine for me except for one dumbarse lecturer who kept walking away from the microphone to point at stuff on the projected screen. I raised it twice as an issue, asking if maybe he could get a wearable mic instead. Nothing changed. I ended up using a sound editing program to raise the sound levels so I could hear what was said, and complaining to the course coordinator.

This is the best hotel quarantine system in the country? The one that all the other states are copying?

I have got zero faith they won't stuff it up again.

I don't think people will give them another chance if it gets out again.

I would advice against home quarantine until most of the population is vaccinated
