"Ain't got no strings" Synth Playthrough LO.

Q&A LO | Discussion

Haven't even started building this yet, still in the planning phase, but I think I've decided on the first playthrough idea of two before I probably put F04 away for a while.

Using SKK50's Synthetic Player Mod as a base, I'm going to do a run as an Institute Synth that may or may not start to question their personhood. This will be a really "Fallout-ey" build. Leaving out most "realism" mods.

I've only ever played the main quest once, and I've never played the DLC so I think I might make that my goal for this playthrough. I'll be limiting or outright avoiding most survival style stuff this time around since a) I'll be a synth and b) I'm looking for a more action/quest oriented playthrough for this run, and I'm going to save the more survival and settlement oriented builds for my "Canuck in the Commonwealth" winter survival run next.

So far, this is my LO plan. Mods marked with ? are mods I'm not sure about:

-Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch
-Synthetic Player
//
-Boston Less Enemies
-NPC's Travel
//
-Realistic Ragdoll Force
-See Through Scopes
-Dismemberment Overhaul
-Critical Outside VATS
-Realistic Bullets: Velocity & Gravity ?
-Realistic Insect Health ?
-Rain of Brass
//
-MANBEAST: The Ultimate Companion (This mod is Mandatory ^_^)
//
-Realistic Sound Overhaul
-Whatever Radio Mod I find that's cool
//
-True Storms + Far Harbor Patch
-WET
//
-FlaconOil's Retexture Project
-Gritty Subway
-Enhanced Blood Textures
-Blood Mist
-CC's HD Stars
-MOON
-CC's Roadsigns
//
-Smoother Sun Shadows
//
-Ponytail Hairstyles by Azar
-Immersive Body Replacer
//
-Pip-Boy Dual Colours Green Ghoul
//
-Visible Weapons
-Backpacks of the Commonwealth
-Holsters and Sheaths by Altered Beast ?
-Visible Weapons by Azar ?
(I'm not really sure which weapon/holster mods will go the best with Visible Weapons)
//
-Armorsmith
-Craftable Ammunition
//
Either:
-Makeshift Homes
-The Red Wave Reloaded
Not sure which is less crashy and/or makes more RP sense
//
-X-12 Plasmacaster
//
-AGM Desaturated + True Storms Plugin
(My logic is that AGM plays well with True Storms, and I'd like to save the bleaker NAC X - Lite for my survival playthrough)
-TrueGrass Lite + Grass Reworked (Not sure if this is going to conflict hard with AGM? Probably)
-Nytra's remove lens flare
//
-Immersive Face Animations Remade
-Full Dialogue Interface
-War Veteran Female Sole Survivor - Officer ?
(This one might conflict all over the place, esp with SKK's Synth Player mod)

Final Thoughts

Not as lean as I'd like it but I'm trying to keep it pretty simple. I worry about some of them because SKK50 is quite... specific... about how mods that are "inferior" to his "solutions" might conflict with his changes, but I tried to leave out any Quest/Major NPC mods.

Let me know what you think! Anything neat I should add, or anything on the list you think is pretty crap and I should cut. Any DLCs I should do with this run, and any I should save for my Survival run?

Well, if you're playing an Institute synth that is aware of what they are, and is working with/for the Institute, it might be fun to use Respawn Relays. Set one in the Institute, set it to drop everything when you die, and say that you get uploaded to a new body (or are a new Synth) any time you die.

Definitely do both of the major dlc if you plan on going down the pacification/subversion route. Plenty of factions you get to decide the fate of to further your own goals. Automatron and Vault-Tec Workshop works well if you want your character to be a scientist as well.

Mankind Redefined, Institute Vertibird, and FCOM are all mods that make the faction more useful. You can also use Faction Housing and Phase 4 overhaul the location if you want and have the space.

I didn’t mention any quest mods. I’m pretty sure you could use a mod like Tales from the Commonwealth or just use mods that only add locations if you are really worried about it

I’ve used it and all I really do with it is set up squads and call them in occasionally when I want reinforcements for a siege or to have them act as escorts. It’s pretty simple to set up and use.

I recommend favoriting the radio you get so that you don’t have to go through the menus whenever you want to use it.

You could focus on raiders this time and do settlements and side quests there in your Canuck one. Bethesda games are filled with little details and the thing Nuka World excels at the most is exploration. I recommended using this mod if you want to do raider content btw.

I’d say save it for last though and if you’re ready for a new character by then just don’t do it. Not everything needs to be planned out after all
