This is a direct result of being one of the lowest states for education. Parents saw an option to remove kids from schools and ran with it. online/private and homeschooling is HUGE this year. Arizona also has 'open enrollment' meaning your kid can go to ANY public school as long as you apply and you can get them there.
I guess teachers are not 'essential' huh?
Also 3 of the last 4 years AZ has missed school days,
Red for Ed protests and teachers walked out (state gave teachers a graduated pay raise and some extra goodies) Kids missed 2? months
Actual Full Year (woah)
Corona- year 1 (schools started to close in march)
Corona -year 2 (chaos and no one knew that to do)
Well this is what happens when you refuse to do your job. Children deserved better and parents had enough. Wanna know what schools are thriving? The schools that put children above politics and opened their doors. This should be a wake up call to the teachers who think it is acceptable to use the children as pawns.
Every day I'm more and more thankful that we've enrolled our daughter in a private Christian school.
