[548] Dogshit Beginning
Provocative pseudo-title aside, this opening scene introduces John—one of the (many) characters comprising an eighth-grade class. The idea behind this story is to establish a cohort with a diverse set of life experiences and extant circumstances, thereby allowing for an examination of how these might manifest behaviourally in a school setting. Or, in other words, the idea is to construct an imaginary sociological overview of classroom dynamics based on the unique attributes of its constituents.
Needless to say, the prose is probably too advanced for most YA readers. This is already a distilled version, and I refuse to sieve it any further. Sorry.
Against my better judgment, I'm allowing comments on the doc. Play nice.
Disclaimer: I have no publishing aspirations for this piece. I simply want to try a new approach (for me).
If I haven't yet scared you off—thanks for reading!
