Finally watched "A cure for wellness" and thought it would end up one of my favorite horror movies. That is, until the end. This movie ended badly imo, but I'd love for your opinion to point out what I'm missing SPOILERS.
Honestly J felt like the twist was underwhelming or at the very least rushed. I'm fact the climax and end just felt too much like your average "overcome evil and then beat it" kind of story. There were themes of corporate corruption, which tied into the whole gaslighting/cult hypnosis aspect that the first two acts showed which made me think that there would be a resolution reflecting how the two are more mind controlling cult that you're controlled by or the controller of, resulting in the protagonist realizing this and falling into one side or the other. Instead, the last act started with mind control that should've been implemented early on, resulting in a resolution in both the protagonist and plot at the end, much like the trailers lead me to believe would happen, but instead, went with the whole, something isn't right, oops I'm caught now I'm under their control, but wait some words or whatever reminded me, I'm here just in time to stop the evil plot involving the supernatural evil and Heroin. Which isn't all bad but then took the evil big business part that the movie made me think would have to a bigger roll, and had the protagonist and Heroin say (with their actions of course because we can't make it too smart for the audience) "fuck you I'm gonna ride away to a place where my mental freedom is under no one's control. It's a good message and I like what they meant to do, but the fact that it was a major hollywood movie is not only ironic in the sense that its literally about questioning the influence that the powers that be have over the things we need to live, but is also a form of escapism, but also has the hero ride off on a BICYCLE with the most edgy look I've ever seen. As if all you gotta do is best the corrupt generation, reject corrupt business and pedal to a small swedish town where everyone speaks german there's only 20 houses, a Bar, and a doctor/vet/butcher.

Honestly, if the movie just ended with the scene where he sat on the bench and said "why would anyone ever wanna leave" to hannah, it would have been way better. Of course then there would have been even more unanswered questions (which imo wouldn't even be a bad thing considering the already mysterious vibe of the movie), but still better than "fight the disfigured evil guy in a cave and burn the place down". It's just a shame that the director somehow managed to ruin a overall pretty good movie in the last 30 minutes..
It's seriously just the last act. Its not like movie wouldn't have been long enough.
