Got COVID after being vaccinated in January (Pfizer)

Yep....COVID positive this week. I thought I had a sinus infection....congestion, fever, headache, sneezing, watery eyes etc. I made an appointment to see my doctor later that day. Went to eat breakfast and realized I could not taste or smell ANYTHING. Tested positive later that day. Overall fatigue is high, headache and congestion continuous. Fever on and off. Feel like crap.

I was continuing to wear a mask and socially distance...my doctor and I were really surprised by this. Quarantined at home now.

These new RNA vaccines are not immunizations. You can still get the virus. All they do is try to reduce any symptoms to keep it from getting serious.

Most people have little or no symptoms anyway without a vaccine, but they should really help in the worst cases, where people have preexisting health problems.

In short, this is completely normal.

I understand the science, but was surprised to be a “breakthrough” case. I don’t think it is very common. I would classify my symptoms as mild-plus....as if I had a really bad cold or influenza. I have Raynauds and granuloma annulare, both conditions linked to immune system dysfunction.

It's not very common but still can happen. The Pfizer vaccine is about 85-95% effective depending on which study and research you choose to listen to.

It's a bit uncommon but I see similar posts to yours almost every day so it's not exactly a breakthrough.

Wow literally same thing just happened to me!! Got Pfizer in Dec/jan and went all year long without catching it. Just tested positive today. Mild symptoms at this point

How are you feeling now?

My son got the Pfizer vaccine 3/29 and was diagnosed with covid two days ago. Ugh. Fever of 100.9 chills super tired.

Me too. I got the second dose of Pfizer 2/4 and tested positive Thursday. My symptoms are mild to moderate at times. Mild fever, aches, extreme congestion, sneezing, headache, GI symptoms, and now loss of taste/smell. The symptoms seem to worsen at times.

I saw you got COVID after being fully vaccinated. How are you doing now? Curious if people can get long-haul symptoms after being fully vaccinated.

It’s posts like this that definitely solidify my decision on not getting the vaccine. Say what you will, but I refuse to get a vaccine that “might” prevent me from getting sick when the doctors don’t even know for certain if there are long term effects. Regardless of them claiming there aren’t, they won’t know until time passes. I’ll take my chances, naturally.

Say what you will

This sounds like at some level, you recognize that you're being stubborn about this, not rational.

the doctors don’t even know for certain if there are long term effects.

We know for certain that your chance of dying, or having serious health complications, is lower if you're vaccinated than if you're not. If that weren't the case, the vaccine would not be recommended for everyone to take. We also know that vaccinating a majority of people will dramatically reduce the impact to society of COVID - as with wearing masks, vaccination is not just about you.

For the mRNA vaccines, we also have a good understanding of what risks they might have. For example, they don't involve live viruses, so can't infect you, and they don't interact with your cell nucleus or DNA. The CDC info page had more about this.

I’ll take my chances, naturally.

That "naturally" only seems to make sense because of ignorance.

Then don’t leave your house. Don’t want people like you wasting oxygen in public.

I’m not the one with my tail between my legs afraid of a virus with a .1% mortality rate so I’ll go out and live my life instead of stay in. Ridiculous to quarantine the healthy.
