Yes, you baked it. And it's too orange. It's a tough image to work with and you did some good things, but you should bring it back a bit.

If you are going for realistic, then yes maybe too much sauce. If you are going for a stylized photo then no.

One comment you may want to crop the very very top of the picture. There is a very light band of sky that pulls attention to the border

LouIThinkβ€’

Maybe a bit too saturated, other than that it's a good shot but I'd personally tone that down a tiny bit

Funnily enough, if you dont want this to be a "photograph" but simply a depiction of shape and color, then it looks fun, maybe you could even use it as a pattern on something. But if you wanted to depict the prior lake and enhance the atmosphere, it doesnt work since the colors take away the content of the picture completely (in my opinion)

Absolutely too much, but I kinda like it lol

It’s one of those things where had I not seen the original I’d like the edited one more haha, still jive with both tho

Reminds me of those super over the top anime shots. I don't mind it if you're not expecting it to be realistic

Too much sauce.

Way way WAY too much sauce. I mean no offense, but this doesn't just need a little tweaking. You need to start over. Be more conservative with your sliders and don't change things just to change them. You should have a solid justification behind each change you make. The end product should resemble "enhanced reality," but not go so far as to make colors completely unnatural.

Contrast can be adjusted to increase color separation, but should be done without compromising detail in the shadows and highlights. Use Lightroom's shadow and highlight clipping overlays to identify when clipping is happening, and pay attention to your histogram. Note that you can still overdo contrast even when you're not clipping. Less is more.

White balance should be adjusted to ensure that neutral colors are actually neutral.

Effect sliders (Clarity, Texture, Dehaze) should be adjusted as little as possible. If you have to go beyond +20 to fix an issue it's time to consider reshooting, because you're going to obliterate the image.

Color adjustments are better left alone unless you have a very specific reason to use them (e.g. - I'd like this yellowish grass to be greener). Even then, use them SPARINGLY and BE GENTLE.

Good job defogging/sharpening! I like where you're going with the color combos, but yes, too much sauce. A few suggestions:

  • Play around with Vibrancy and saturation. I'm no expert of the two, but sometimes you can get that splash of color, without making it look too much you know?
  • Try selectively desaturating specific colors, like the red houses, they kinda bother my eyes. Or, if you don't wanna desaturate them, turn all reds more orange to make them blend more with the surroundings.
  • Decrease sharpness and clarity on the lake, the marks on the surface look weird.
  • As someone above suggested, crop out the top part of the sky as it is too bright and draws attention away from the landscape.

I love it! finally something wholesome in this sub. People are either afraid to take risks, or they are pushing it too far and the photo ends up looking psychedelic or cartoonish. This is kinky but lovely!

Agree that this is probably too much editing for a realistic portrayal of the subject, but if you're going for a stylized depiction I kind of like it. It has kind of an illustration-like quality with your edits so I feel like while you edited it a lot, the edits all work together cohesively in some way, so it would ultimately depend on the purpose of the image and what you're trying to convey. Like, if this is going on a tourism website where you're trying to accurately portray the location, then it's obviously way too much, but if it's just meant to be an artwork/design piece on its own I think there's no issue.
