Effects to long term use of hormonal birth control?

I’m a 26 female Asian, 5’5”, 125 lbs. I’ve been on the pill for 4 years. I used to have irregular and heavy periods but since I’ve gotten on the pill it’s been regular and light. In recent months I’ve noticed my periods getting even lighter. They only last like 3 days with very little blood. It’s so light it’s scaring me. I’m wondering if it’s a sign that I should get off the pill? I’m worried it would affect my body in the long term even when I do get off it one day.
