About 170 hours in so far. Spent the majority of my time in my home system slowly building and ripping things apart to rebuild as new technologies became available. All technologies researched. And got a couple mining outposts on the closest stars to me for rare veigns.

Things are looking good for this fledging industrial empire.

Man this game is pretty once you get to the mid-late game.

looks sick bro.. do you have any tips for me? I started yesterday and somehow I cant find a system that will automate everything efficiently yet-- I think my layout is all wrong because I just tried out random stuff but now I know it doesnt work like it (Im new to this sort of game).

maybe there is a layout for basic item production?

I'm pretty new to this genre of game too. My big tip is to take it slow.

Dont really worry too much about automating everything from the start. As you get new technologies you'll end up having to rip everything up anyways to redo stuff to make room for the new technologies.

My first couple abominations on my homeworld were pretty worthy of the spaggheti gods, and it wasn't until I got Planetary Logistics and Interstallar Logistics that I really was able to start cleaning everything up into nice organized rows of towers.

Always build along the Longitude to make the most of your space on planets. You'll want to Automate the creation of :

  • Foundation
  • Belts
  • Smelters
  • Assemblers
  • Sorters
  • Solar Panels
  • Wind
  • Tesla Towers

You can just chuck them into a corner somewhere with 1 assembler producing the item of each category and a storage with only 5 or so rows available for automation. In the picture of my Homeworld, all those tiny planetary towers stacked right next to eachother are the section I set up for producing those items. And I just run up and grab them whenever I need more.

In the Early to Mid game, don't under estimate how amazing a Solar belt can be. If you set your belt up so its (Wind|Solar|Solar) repeating you can get an easy couple hundred MW per row at your equator. And on your home world specifically, dont hesitate to cap off every single Oil Well and drive them directly into a thermal generator connected to your grid with tesla towers. Oil is infinite so burn that instead of Graphine/Coal.

As for the layout. Embrace the speghetti. The best layout in the early game gets you to Interstallar Logistics. After that if you want to go hyper-organized its just a copy/paste layout from there.

Also dont be afraid of flying to other planets in your system. I spent waaay too long on my homeworld before actually venturing out. But also, once you make the decision on heading out. Bring everything you need with you to set up a Mining and Smelting outpost for Silicon and Titanium, and do not head back home until you have enough resources to build two Interstellar Logistics. That way you dont have to fly back and fourth several times just to get the resources

you can assemble belts and sorters etc in by automation?

LOL mind=blown.. I did this all by hand WTF

Ha ha, I did that for way too long too. I had even automated some of them in my first iteration then tore it all down for my second iteration and forgot to put them back in for awhile after.

Now, that I have my planetary mall, and grafted on interstallar transport for it I don't know how I'd live without it.

Man these are great tips! Thanks!

I hate to be this guy, but the magic for me in the game was figuring it out for yourself.

If that's not your thing there are a number of great tutorials on youtube that will get you up and running in no time.

This. I got the game on Sat and I spent the morning using a guide in how to set up an early game mall. I wish I hadn't tbh and just figured it out for myself. So no more guides now. Just lots of testing. That's what I love about this game, I have never felt punised once for testing a set up to see if it works and then ripping it down and rebuilding it to see if it works. Also splitters are my new best friend. I'm glad I didn't try and spaghetti over and around stuff and used splitters instwad, much neater!

I just do random stuff I like it more that way. Figuring out what works and what to never do, creating problems and then solving them.

The way people hyper organize things is to basically run everything out of a logistics station and then back into one for storage. Then just keep doing that for everything you want to build.
