*Toe stops: Rollerstuff

*Wheels: Luminous

*Laces: Spark in Rosegold

*Lace Charm: Shopazula

Moxis used to be fuchsia but I dyed them with angelus suede dye, a combination of Dark Red and Winetone.

Toe stops and wheels are also dyed to match the rest of the color scheme. Wheels used to be white but once they got dingy and yellow I decided to dye them with a combination of Pink, chocolate brown, and daffodil yellow Rit Dyemore. Toe stops were put in the same dye combination for a dustier pink.

Woooow I would never think to dye wheels and toestop!

A lot of people dye their wheels! I dye mine after they get ugly and discolored. I’ve dyed my sunray glows back to a deep yellow after they got ugly and these white ones to this deep maroon color. The light isn’t as noticeable after dying these but i don’t mind

Was gonna ask how the light looks through the dye. and how you dyed them without messing up the lights???

I accidentally left them in too long so the dye absorbed so opaquely in the material. the lights are baaarely visible when it’s dark only on the front side of the wheels. If you look at the stock black luminous wheels, they are still a bit transparent. And what I did was that after dying them i went in and wiped out as much as i could on the inside (where the magnetic spacer goes) with a towel. I also took a hair blowdryer and put some hot air for a few minutes so that the water inside fully evaporates.

I'm considering dying my toestops as well. Did you use RIT synthetic dye? Do you have any tips that would be helpful?

2
viralmarsOP•

Yes I did use rit synthetic dye! The toe stops are a different material than the wheels, so they don’t absorb the dye as easily. I put the toe stops in with the wheels and the wheels dyed in 5-10 mins and the toe stops barely changed from a bright pink to this dusty pink color in 30-40 mins. I dried off the metal stem as soon as possible to prevent any rusting. Other than that it’s pretty simple! Wheels are so much more different because they take dye in so fast you have to constantly be checking them

Oh good to know!! I'm also thinking of a lighter color. Sounds like a darker color might not be the most practical (at least not when starting from white). Thank you so much. Can't wait to try :)

Thank you! Yes I dyed them with Angelus suede dye. They used to be fuchsia!

Goregous I wish they offered more dark colors like this, your dye job looks immaculate!

Thank you. I love the dye colors moonlight roller has to offer, and it’s a shame moxi doesn’t offer these colors either (not really a bright color gal myself, I died my orange clems too)

Luscious colour 🍇 i can’t understand why most brands repeat the same old jaded colours when the demand for sophisticated jewel shades like this must be so high?

This is the most beautiful dye job I have seen. I absolutely love the color!

These are beautiful, I especially love the color of the toe stops! As they get scruffed up a bit do you think the color will come off?

3
viralmarsOP•

So far the color hasn’t came off yet! I left the toe stops in for a long while; somewhere around 30 mins-45 mins so the pigment did really absorb but I still don’t know to what extent.

Are they still okay now after a couple of weeks..? I’d LOVE to dye my toe stops purple but I play roller derby inside and if they left streaks I’d be expected to get new ones 😬

1
viralmarsOP•

I usually skate on asphalt so I can’t really tell you if they streak or not :( so far though the color has stayed on the toe stops, it’s as if the pigment penetrated deeply like the wheels. Only thing that has happened is that the color turned a bit deeper and i don’t know of it’s because dirt penetrated the color or just sunburnt. The rollerstuff toe stops are pretty soft so discoloration is expected

These are amazing - LOVE !! Also: you can dye wheels?!! (mind blown.) ....I'm pretty sure I can figure out how to dye my Moxi's - but I have the Taffy/Darker Purple. Any thoughts/rules of the road on dying something that dark?

1
viralmarsOP•

You can try!! Maybe more of the dark red than winetone! These used to be fuchsia so it already provided a warm base. You can always try it by dying the inside of the tongue!

1
shellonwheels•

That’s a great idea...I don’t know if I have it in me to bleach them a little first, or maybe I can do a deep midnight blue (so digging on the jewel tone). But these are just next level ! :)
