Home Networking to Set Up Two Separate Workstations?
My partner and I both work online jobs that are with companies that say only one person per household may work those jobs. For several years, up until this point, that has been fine as we didn't live together. However, in a few short months we are moving in together and I'd like to know what our options are regarding setting up home internet/wifi/ISP, that would allow us to continue working rather than one of us having to quit our jobs; or worse, both of us being fired as soon as we have moved out together and start trying to work using the same internet connection.
First idea is: buying two internet connections from the ISP for our apartment, but I read that not all ISPs allow that, especially within an apartment. If that is an option, that's what we'll do. Each paying 80 bucks or so to have our jobs is a tax we can live with.
Next idea is asking online, someone who is more familiar with home networking options... is there a way to set up our computers to appear to have different homes? I was told VPNs are not allowed with the companies we work with, (I think because they hire globally and need to pay for what region you're actually in) and that they would be able to tell if you were using a VPN.
I am moving from an apartment, and she is moving from a parent's house... so we do have access to the parent's home if, for networking purposes, we needed to set something up there.
I do have experience with computer hardware, and building computers, so I might be able to follow some instructions, but I am not familiar at all with networking. However, I'm happy to read up and do the leg work for any possible solution.
