I feed mine Purina Pro Plan Bright Mind, and when I switched to it I noticed a decrease in her farting and more consistent stools. But Royal Canin, Hill’s, and IAMS are also good, vet-recommended brands. If you’re still unsure you can always ask your vet about your dog’s specific dietary needs!
I’m a vet assistant, so I just want to add that we do NOT recommend a raw diet or any animal bones. Giving animal bones is just asking for intestinal blockage. It’s what killed my grandmother’s dog and I’ve seen other emergency cases caused by a dog swallowing bones (and a lot of them don’t make it).
Thanks for the info much appreciated!
You’re welcome!
After a hellish nightmare of trial and error, I've learned through research that it's common for Bostons to have allergies to chicken ....wth? So ive finally tackled the problem of my males finicky tummy by feeding both of them "Candiae" brand. (salmon and sweet potatoe recipe. ) I also follow up their meals with dog probiotics nutrivet chewables I got on Amazon
I've also been using a squirt of Sardine oil on their food bc it gives them both really shiny healthy looking coats.
We've had our little guy on salmon and tapioca, hes doing so much better! Very solid stools. My partner came to the same conclusion about chicken not agreeing with him too.
I would say a raw diet that includes bone is the best for firm stools with no odour, I have a puppy who occasionally poops on the carpet and it leave no mess behind. Also if left in your garden for instance they just dry up and crumble then turn to dust in a few days.
My boy does well on Purina ProPlan.
