EXPERIMENT R, just don't ask what R really stands for.
I decided to play around with the Regulus a bit, and put together a dirty build for clearing missions mostly solo (but it works in groups too.)
It isn't quite a tanky-bruiser, but it isn't horribly squishy either (unless someone gets besides, or behind you obviously...)
Spec: Technician, +10% Skill Damage
Skills: Deflector Shield (or Bulwark, if you want less fun...) and Assault Drone.
Weapons: Whatever, whatever, and Regulus (Boom! Headshot!) I chose to use The Mop with Optimist, and a M1A CQB with Boomerang. But there are plenty of choices. Mostly just need this as alternative weapons for very specific situations were the Regulus just isn't effective.
Gear:
Momento: Triple Core, and stacks of goodness.
Punch Drunk: Pistol damage, headshot damage.
Claws Out: Pistol Damage, Melee Damage - Recalibrate Skill Tier to Weapon Damage. Try to find one with headshot, crit damage, or weapon handling. But that might be a while unless you get lucky and a Vendor starts selling it again. To be honest, it's mostly here for shits-n-giggles so I have an excuse to actually use it - there might be a better option, but I like the style.
Fox's Prayer's: Good' ol DTTOOC BIS.
Chainkiller: BOOM HEADSHOT.
D&H Gloves: The second bonus for D&H +20% stability, which helps tremendously in re-acquring a target after the ridiculous muzzle climb of the Regulus. Or use Contractor's Gloves and have only named items and exotics.
Secondary attributes, try to get critical hit chance to ~50% total, then go for Weapon Handling or more Headshot damage. A bit of handling does help with the Regulus. Don't forget to calculate your gearmods into your CHC total.
Gearmods, you'll most likely need to put CHC gearmods in, but in the off-chance that you don't, Headshot mods.
Alternative, if you don't have Punch Drunk - a regular D&H piece will do, and if you don't have Claws Out (DZ Exclusive) then a second WH, Ceska, or Providence piece will do. Chainkiller can be a regular Headhunter vest. AND if you don't have Momento ...there really isn't a good substitute - Matador (or other Adrenaline Rush backpack,) or something with Vigilance? I'm honestly unure here. Momento is so ridiculously good (if not downright overpowered) that there really isn't a replacement.
Basic strategy: Pop drone, send it after the biggest threat to distract it and whittle it down, then start Headhunting reds, and go up from there. Deflector shield works great against most balistic heavies (not Sledges, Chainsaws, or Grenade Launchers tho....) And in general, works well against most enemies to whittle them down. Dogs (except for grenade launching dogs...) it does just fine against.
It clears solo heroic activities, control points, and missions quite handily. 11 minutes DCD, 13 minutes Jefferson (the EMP room is trouble...), and also can do group missions too (stop stealing my kills! I need my Momento stacks!)
Maybe the title should have been "...how to stop worrying and blood explosions for the Blood God!"...
You just had to go there, didn't you. Now I'm going to be fantasizing about a Division style WH40K looter shooter (playing as Deathwatch space marines would be my personal ideal) for the rest of the day.
Looks like a fun build, btw. I'll always have a soft spot for neato pistol builds.
