Probably yeah. Changing the resolution wouldn't change what you see in your headset (apart from menus, I think). Forcing it up to 4K and downsampling it to your 1080p monitor would make the view on the monitor for spectators more crisp, but change nothing in your VR view apart from probably just making it run slower.
