Fingers crossed.
The UKs road map seems to be going well, but we've been burnt before. Would be great to see some fans back in the stadium before the end of the season though.
I think if Arsenal demand certification that's a betrayal of Arsenal fans.
In what way?
It sounds stupid but I think Arsenal has a moral responsibility to not take the piss on this.
Yeah, but how would they take the piss?
I've been jabbed and think this is a terrible idea. The club is obviously desperate to get fans in so will accept anyway but the Government has always said Wembley will only be 25% full in June even with these vaccine passports
And who going to take on the costs of the testing to go to a match? And don't comment about every Uk resident will get two free tests a week when there is 60 million people in the UK. This won't work when clubs realise that most of their fans won't be able to go to the games.
I dunno about you guys but I think this is bollocks. It doesn't affect me because I'm having my second vaccination next week, but I know season ticket holders that may not even have been offered their first by the end of the season.
I think forcing negative tests is ridiculous, especially when you use lateral flow tests which are only slightly more accurate than flipping a coin.
Are we gonna do Chinese style anal swabs just to rub in it. I think premier league clubs asking for this is nothing short of pathetic, especially when you consider that other venues in this country are rejecting the certification idea.
It's either safe or it isn't. Security theatre doesn't help anyone, especially when it is precluding people from attending.
I respectfully disagree. It's just a fact that a large event with only vaccinated people is much safer than a large event with anyone.
You can argue about the morality of requiring vaccinations to attend but it's not like watching a football match live is an essential service. If you don't want the vaccine you don't have to go.
That said I think vaccine requirements like this should be held off until every single adult has been offered one. Otherwise you're unfairly excluding people based on their age/lack of medical conditions/local area etc...
On negative tests, lateral flows are certainly a bit questionable but it is slightly better than a coin toss. But I think if the aim is full stadia with no social distancing you probably just need vaccination requirements.
Well when you start thinking like that you can justify that forever. And why just coronavirus?
Humans are disease vectors, any mass gathering of people is going to involve disease transmission. Despite that we have evolved as social creatures because nature has proven that the benefits of living in a society vastly outweigh the risks.
And if you hold off vaccine requirements until everyone has been offered you're putting yourself in a situation where you are imposing restrictions again on people, i.e. you can go to a cinema or pub for a month then suddenly you can't go anymore.
you can justify that forever.
Justify what forever?
And why just coronavirus?
Because Covid is a particularly uniquely fast transmitting, mutating and harmful virus which has the potential to cause (and has caused) country shutting pandemics. I believe this also answers your follow up point about risk Vs benefit.
And if you hold off vaccine requirements until everyone has been offered you're putting yourself in a situation where you are imposing restrictions again on people, i.e. you can go to a cinema or pub for a month then suddenly you can't go anymore.
No because until everyone has been offered the vaccine you simply don't allow full venues and continue to enforce social distancing. There will be no scenario where people are allowed to go/do things then suddenly not because of vaccine requirements
So you just aren't ever lifting restrictions for the unvaccinated then. Just casually creating a two tier society.

Harmful virus, 99% survival rate.
Choose one?
“are we going to do Chinese style anal swabs just to rub it in?”
Best be careful here son or somebody might think you’re just trolling...
lateral flow tests which are only slightly more accurate than flipping a coin
99~% is flipping a coin in your opinion.
That's only for false positives. Now find the rates for false negatives.
No test is going to be 100% accurate when the public are carrying it out themselves as, frankly, they don't know how to take the sample correctly. You're right, when Johnny from down the pub takes his test himself there is a 42% chance that the sample has been gathered incorrectly. All that means though is that there is a 42% chance that a person has covid, but have produced a false negative. They would still be allowed to attend the game in that case. There is only <1% chance that they wont be allowed to go because the test is flagged as a false positive. So what's your argument?
Whatever gets us out of lockdown and gets me on holiday!
