Damaged Hair without typical risk factors - Help?
Hey hopefully someone here has an idea what's going on so I don't have to keep dealing with this. I used to have long hair but it was getting damaged so I got rid of it and now I have pixie cut length after some re-growing. But the hair in my upper mid-scalp on the top of my head, and the crown is horribly damaged even after this. It looks like someone glued a ball of steel wool onto the top of my head. Everywhere else my hair has no issues.
I have fine but not thin wavy hair, I don't color it, I don't apply heat to it except from taking somewhat hot showers, I shampoo/condition about once a week, and the shampoo/conditioner I use it "Paul Mitchell Color Correct" (left over from when my hair used to be colored, it's since been cut off and the hair on my head's all new)
I suspect part of my problem may be from sleep. I sweat a lot when I sleep no matter what I do, I can only fall asleep on my side, I move around a lot, and I usually wake up with my hair pushed into a ^ or mohawk shape when I wake up and have to brush it out every day.
But when I read online about what can cause damage the only thing that may apply to me is my health. The damage began around the same time I was diagnosed with "Cyclical vomiting syndrome" and I spent about a year constantly in the hospital from it. I shaved my head around the time I got it under control and I haven't been sick since, but the damage in my hair persists. Maybe it's connected maybe that's just coincidence.
What do? With the extent of damage I'm going to have to shave my head again, but I don't want it to just come back damaged again.
