Jealous. Haven't been able to find one for a good price at the same time I had the extra money on hand.

Didn't plan to upgrade the cpu, was going to upgrade the gpu, but as everyone knows, gpu are non-existent at near msrp, mostly double the price here. Got a friend who have contact with distributor and taking Ryzen orders, so I ordered 5900x to satisfy my upgrade itch.

Mine's the opposite, found a GPU for a good(ish) price through a friend at a local Mom and pop pc shop. Mine was the second to last they ever got though.

Step 1: Take bits of money and throw into a savings account

Step 2: When the deal and availability presents - use the saved money for the thing you have been saving for.

If you plan to do a full rebuild of a gaming computer say, every 3 years - at say 2000$ for the tower, you are looking at around 55$ a month. If it's a GPU every 3 years and a platform overhaul every 6 years - roughly speaking 2800 over a 6 year period works out to 38ish $/ month.

Short version: Budgeting is the answer.

You presume a lot from a casual comment. But thanks for the remedial finance lesson.

Honestly, the only thing I'm hoping is true is your position is alright given all the shit that has gone down in the last year. I definitely debated deleting this comment when before hitting save because right now - shit is ugly.

As far as the rest: It's mostly a bit of a rant and venting - and wasn't intentionally pointed at you.

Anyways: Heres to looking to the inspiration and opertunity tomorrow might bring - and may it damn well be better than last year.

Why on earth buy a boxed version to install into an existing rig? Warranty? Or are OEM/tray versions not widely available at retailers?
