What are some good beers from California not available in Ohio?
Visiting LA over the weekend and wanting to try some new beers. Everything I've seen so far I can get in Ohio. Any suggestions on beers to look out for? Thanks!
Update:
Didn't have much luck finding the bottles mentioned in the post, only stopped in a few shops in Venice, so there's still hope. I did not get my $40 medical card either, but man they're pushy about it.
I did find a few different beers at dinner last night. Odanta - Saison Ale, a Belgium, pretty good, but not great. Karl - Off the Rails - Again, good, but not great. Ended the night with the Green Flash IPA and it was amazing as always.
Update2, just in case anyone is wondering how I fared on the west coast:
Pliny the Elder is a hard beer to find. Checked 3 Whole Foods, a Vons, a few different wine/beer stores and came up empty handed. Visited Father's Office our last night and they had it on tap. Great beer, but not sure if it warrants the Holy Grail status it's given in this thread. I found it very similar to the Green Flash IPA. I did find a few Russian Rivers in my search. Damn that beer is expensive. Paid $13.99 for a bottle of Supplication. Drank it out of paper coffee cups at the beach, don't think that was the correct way to sample a high end beer, but I was really curious and not disappointed.
Here's what made it home. Thanks for the help!
