Recording Gameplay in Linux

Hello, I recently upgraded from a GTX 1070 to an RX 6700 XT and now I have no idea how to record in-game footage without taking a massive performance hit in the game I'm recording.

Back when I was using the GTX 1070, I just used OBS with NVenc and that worked great but with my new AMD card I can only use VA-API which doesn't work well with OBS. When I record using VA-API in OBS, the video is extremely choppy and there is apparently no fix for this since It's a know issue with the Linux version of OBS and hasn't been fixed for very long time. I did try using x264 which doesn't record choppy video but absolutely DESTROYS my framerate in certain games so I'm looking for an OBS alternative which supports hardware encoding on AMD GPUs. Any advice?
