Deductible Work Commuting Costs

Unsolved

Hello! I have a question about the deductibility of commuting costs. I read the IRS pamphlet and I understand the "family home" and "tax home" definitions. Here is my issue. For the first 6 months of 2020, I had a job that required a 3-hour commute by airplane. Basically I worked in DC but lived elsewhere. (no I am not in government). Post-COVID, I started a new job in my hometown, and stopped commuting to my old job, where I went on an authorized leave of absence (until COVID ends). This second home town job is the same one I have now, and which I completed the tax year with. My question is this, since my first job was not my primary year end job, am I now entitled to deduct all of those commuting costs which normally the IRS does not allow. Not an insignificant amount of money, probably looking at $10000 in commuting expenses over 6 months. Thanks!
