40 [F4M] I just want to chat

I recieved some devastating news that a client of mine died in a car accident this morning. I know some people would think, what's the big deal he was "just a client", but because of the way my business works, I genuinely got to know him. He was very dedicated to his family and he was so young, only 30 years old. This grief is different, he wasn't a family member or friend, but it's definitely still grief nonetheless.

Anyways, I would just like someone to talk to about anything, really. I'm in no mood to flirt or any of that stuff, I just want to talk and I'm not sure where else to post this.

Thanks

I'm sorry for your loss. I don't have a lot of friends in my area so working relationships are probably the closest thing I have. And a few of those would be devastating to lose.

I work in mental health so I can relate. I had a client die of an overdose shortly before Covid hit. It really hit me hard. I think I honestly thought he was “in a good place” when it happened. I feel really guilty because I had just transferred him off my case load to a new co-worker and she ended up getting fired for negligence later (unrelated) but I wonder if her inattentiveness didn’t play a part here too.

I’m very sorry you’re suffering through this grief. There’s a well known grief expert who facilitates many groups via zoom which are free. His name is David Kessler. He is very knowledgeable, caring, and offers many ideas of how to deal with your grief. David has suffered loss of immediate family so he has a strong sense of what grieving is. If you search for other resources on the web you’ll find most counselors have been where you are right now. That’s what’s unique about this type of counseling. They all have a very good idea of the suffering you’re experiencing right now. I think it’s good you’re looking for help. Grief isn’t something you can just shake off. All the best and I hope you can find some comfort. Chris.
