Went for a kiss, got rejected

So there is this girl from college I've been texting for almost a month. From then on, we've been texting every day, and almost whole day. We eventually became sort of friends, but I figured out there was more to it. How come? Well she invited me to her place, and I've been playing it cool for the first 2 times, we had lots of fun, talked for 4 and a half hours . The third date came last night, she texted me saying she wants to hang out, and we went for a ride for like 2 hours. Date ended, and I went for a kiss which she rejected by moving her head. She said it's a bit too early for her, especially because she has been hurt before by another guy. I went home, apologized again through text later that night, and she replied that it is cool, that she doesn't want us to rush, that we know each other for a short period of time, and that she is afraid that everything could go wrong if we rush or something like that.
Then we went on to talk about other stuff, eventually it was bed time and she texted good night as she always does every night.. I am afraid I've f***ed up big time, and that I messed up every chance I had, altough it doesn't seem like it, since she has continued to text me. What do you guys mean, I need some tips, she is a very rare girl and I really like her and can't afford to lose a woman like that.
