What pc game for a father?

I want to get a pc game for my Dad for Christmass. He's about 70, does puzzles all the time and a voracious reader. Shoot em ups just irritate him 'cause he never gets the keys right or on time. So What I want is something that is immersive, puzzle or mystery oriented, maybe multiplayer online but no fast key action required. Possible????
