Joint bank account vs Collection agency?

Hi all, I searched right and left but cant seem to find a good answer. I am trying to find out some information for my girlfriend. So, she was married for 3 years and is in the process of getting a divorce. They had joint bank savings account for a little while. He is a deadbeat and never really used it, my girlfriend uses it for her savings and has both cards, PINs, info...etc... He doesnt touch the account, it's just his name appears on the papers. Now, this idiot has all kinds of debt, some of it my girlfriend knew about, most of it she didn't.Yesterday a collection agency went in the savings account and put a hold on $1,100.She called him and tried to contact, but of course he never picks up the phone when he needs to take responsibility for something. My gf went to the bank today and transferred all the money to a different personal account, minus the $1,100 of course. Now she was told that she cant close the account until the money was taken and the debt was settled, or something along those lines, which could take a very long time. The $1,100 is gone and she has no hopes of recovering is. The problem is, if he owes more money and the collection agency/marshal go after it they will try to take it from the same account, and she will be in minus plus all the follows, repaying, affecting her credit, etc... My question is: is there anything that can be done now to remove her from the equation? The debt is his, she didnt have anything to do with it.Anything that can be done? It's not fair her getting screwed over because this guy is a loser.

Thank you, reddit.Any advise is welcome.

TLDR:my GF's ex-husband is screwing with her money and credit.
