Drama does NOT hurt eSports!

Hey guys, first poster here. There's something I've been noticing throughout SC2's drama that pisses me the fuck off.

Firstly, I think this subreddit is great. The concept of having such a popular place for discussion regarding Starcraft II is fantastic; you guys have done a fabulous job posting spoilers about various tournament finals as soon as they occur, and of course manage to objectively report what happens drama-wise around here. I also really love the many stories and silly images regarding being brave little Platinum heroes getting over ladder anxiety. It's just swell.

My biggest qualm with this community is the fact that everyone's always bringing up eSports, and whether or not some people's actions affect it negatively. Namely, Destiny's drama with that porn star has gotten everyone's panties twisted. I'm not gonna comment on Destiny's actions; it's his stream and he can do whatever the fuck he wants. If you wanna spend time watching him goof around, then great, all the better for him. But there's one thing I cannot stand.

Drama within the Starcraft II community is NEVER bad for eSports, no matter if it's positive or negative!

I constantly see ignorant posts about "hurting eSports" in which stupid Redditors whose SC2 morals all derive from TL's anal policies claim "OMG HE DID THIS THAT'S BAD FOR ESPORTS!" No, it's fucking not, you dumb pieces of shit. Let me break it down for you retards.

The concept of eSports and its mainstream popularity demands that interesting things happen. If you want to be able to watch Starcraft II tournaments on ESPN2, or you want to theorycraft with your uncle about gas timings in ZvT, then there absolutely must be attention drawn to the game community itself, whether it's good or bad. There is no such thing as bad publicity, people. If Destiny can make the frontpage of this subreddit just because he made a porn star cry, then he is benefiting eSports by bringing attention to it. I fucking guarantee you that some of you guys brought attention to the whole ordeal to people who don't give two shits about SC2.

The same principle can be applied to Destiny. He's an entertainer, and since he cannot gain popularity by being the best at Starcraft II, he acts in ways that brings attention. Who cares if you frown upon it; he's making fucking money by acting silly (whether or not that's his true personality is irrelevant). Love him or hate him, you're giving him attention, which fuels his personality and thus fuels eSports. How many interviews have you seen with Destiny at every major tournament, despite him playing poorly?

This community needs villains, drama, and other miscellaneous bad shit. It's good for the community, because it gets people's opinions involved. Now, if you're morally opposed to certain things that happen within this community, that's fucking dandy. But don't you fucking dare say that drama negatively affects eSports. If this community was filled with mannered little nerds and nothing dramatic happened, Starcraft II and its community would never manage to scrape its way out of its niche onto the mainstream main stage. The masses love drama, especially dirty, filthy, this-could-offend-lots-of-people drama. And in case you guys didn't know, in media, drama leads to attention, and attention brings in the money. And ultimately, money = mainstream popularity. So let this drama happen, and start getting vocally upset. By doing so you're giving Starcraft II the attention it deserves.

Not making a tl;dr for you dumbasses. Downvote me all you want, I really don't give a shit.
