Dexterity

Hi science! I thought of a question this morning as I was putting on my boots. Lifelong righty, but for some things I automatically use my left side. I went to put on my right sock and shoe this morning and had to switch to putting on my left sock and shoe. I always tend to go to my left side for "instinctual" (might be the wrong word) actions. In the event something is being thrown my way or whatever, I block with my left. This makes sense to me in that if I were to have to chose a hand/arm to lose it'd be my left, as I don't rely on it as much so it'd be easier to function with it gone than my right. But the shoe thing puzzles me. Thoughts? Hope this is the right place to ask!
