How do I stop my gums from bleeding? I have a date in a couple of hours...

I went to the dentist today to get a crown replaced, they did an xray and saw that I had a large infection in my gums. Surgery was done to remove the infection, and put a bone type substance in its place. They sowed me up and sent me on my way.

Its about 3 hours later and I'm still bleeding from the stitches. The pain is manageable, and they threw in some vicoden to help. I'm on my 4th or 5th gauze pad that they gave me but no luck. Is there anyway I can help stop the bleeding?

I'm going to have to pick her up in about 2 hours.
