I was given a broken Powerbook G4. Won't turn on.

I got a broken Powerbook G4 for free because I was told that someone had dropped it.

It turns out that you aren't able to lift up the screen without the left hinge coming out of place. In addition to that, it won't start up.

The hinge coming apart is an easy fix since a small screw will hold it in place. I'm not sure about the power problem though. Are there any ways to test what parts of the computer were wrecked? I don't know where to start. The last time I disassembled a laptop, it took me an eternity to put it back together.
