Could carbon nanotubes be used for biomimicry of a gecko foot?
I recently took a course in nanoscience and nano engineering that discussed possible uses of nanotubes. We also briefly touched on biomimicry, and I was curious as to whether or not nanotubes could possibly be used as a fabricated version of what gecko feet, spiders, flies all have on their feet that allows them to stick to walls. As I understand it, this sticking ability is due largely to the surface area to volume ratio, which carbon nanotubes have a very high ratio of. With a coating added or such, could these be used to make an equivalent "gecko foot" for humans?
