ROTC vs Enlisted
Just wanted to get some opinions.
I am currently a contracted(Full Scholarship) cadet in ROTC. I will complete my 3rd semester in December. My entire time in ROTC I have struggled with dropping out and enlisting vs. staying in and being a 2LT. I was a signature away last year from enlisting and had an Option 40 set up and ready to go, but chose not to disenroll. I also was pretty close over the past summer.
My dreams for my military career entail special forces, however I don't see that happening as a 2LT. What do you guys think?
There's a couple things that continue to keep me here in school. 1:A Free degree 2:A girl. 3:Leading soldiers.
The cadre spoke with me last year and said that people like me are needed to lead the enlisted men (I'm one of the top cadets GPA and PT wise). However, I want to see action. How much action will I see as an officer?
If I enlisted now I would hopefully get an 18x.
What are your suggestions? Thanks.
