I'm new to Christianity and have some questions.

Background: parents raised me without religion / atheist at times (they both had bad experiences with Catholicism growing up and didn't want their kids to have the same thing). In my teens, I started thinking there was some sense to this whole God thing and as I got older, I gravitated toward the Christian church. I started going to a Baptist church a month ago (of the churches in my town, it's the one directed toward college students) and have liked it a lot, but could use some help on a few things. I'm now 20.

  1. How will I know when I can call myself a Christian? I do try to live as much as I can by the Bible, but I don't know enough yet to feel comfortable calling myself the same as my friends who also attend church and can basically recite the Bible.

  2. What do I do as far as joining a church? I like the Baptist one I go to now, but if I join, am I in forever? I'm going to Austria next year and I don't know if there's even Baptists there.

  3. What do I do on Christmas? Up until now, it's just been a family holiday, which I like, but I feel like I should probably start paying attention to the religious aspect of it... of which I am woefully ignorant (I basically know the Charlie Brown Christmas story and enough of the Bible one to name most of the figures in a Nativity scene).

  4. Please, someone explain to me the etiquette for the body and blood thing. I never know what to do and I feel really awkward sitting there while everyone else goes up, especially around my boyfriend's religious parents (who would have not been very OK with me if I weren't getting into the church to start with).

  5. What do you do when you pray? I think I'm doing it right; I base it off of meditation that I already did, but I'd like advice.

Also, if anyone has a little piece of advice or something that you would like to tell me, something you wish you'd known earlier or something, please share it!

And if anyone has advice on how to decorate an apartment with one Jewish chick, two gay men (neither of whom are religious but one who loves decorating), and a budding Christian, please share it...
