rifle questions/Arisaka type 99, 7.7 jap

I just made this purchase last night, and figured I would see if reddit had any more insight on this weapon.

It has had some of the barrel sawed off, and adjusted a bit, but is in pretty great condition. The only real issue I am aware of is the rarity of 7.7 jap ammo. It is pretty hard to come by from what I hear. Being I am in C.A, I cant just buy ammo online either.

Anyone have any special info on this firearm that isnt really seen a lot?

I live in C.A so I will have to wait ten days to recieve it, then I will put a photo up.
