I am afraid we can't communicate proper!

Hello reddit!

I need some advice.... I am having a relationship with a great girl for over a half year now! She's great! she likes to have fun, play games! she tolerates my odd hobby's (shooting fishing etc.) and we go out to do fun stuff a lot! We even got a spectacular holiday to gran canaria booked!

However, something has been gnawing on me for a long time... i'm afraid don't communicate well! she comes from a household where all her brothers and sisters have gone to college... her parents run a farm, but she just heard she didn't meet the requirements to graduate from nursing school :( as soon as she texted me about this i tried to reach her immediately to comfort her!

I wasn't able to reach her! And even tough she was able to update her Facebook etc. it somehow was impossible to reach me... i was really bummed out and really wanted to comfort her!

I am afraid we have problems talking about a lot of stuff, like our ambitions, family hobby's and even about college.

I have the opportunity to study commercial economics next year! it will take me 4 years, but i recon it will be worth it!

However i feel like we aren't communicating well :( it really bums me out because i really love her! but every time i try to expose myself or ask her opinion she shuts down. she answers me with "i dont know" or "what do you think?"

I really do love her and want to sustain our relationship. What should i do reddit!
