Do any faiths have an annotated bible with corrections and/or errata ? This could be valuable for inter-faith conversations...
Disclosure... I'm an Atheist but I think this could be valuable to both Christians of different faiths and Atheists alike.
One thing that I have always felt confused about when talking about the Bible with the religious is that you ask them if they believe the Bible is 100% accurate.
Then if you point out something which is flawed your priest/friend will say "well, that's just a metaphor".
Which is fine. I don't think there's anything wrong with a book not being 100% accurate.
This is why I think the idea of an Errata for the bible per faith would be really interesting.
This way when you're talking to a friend about his faith he can point you to the Errata and you can avoid bringing up points that he has already acknowledged.
Some of these will be spelling issues...
However, many Christians say the New Testament just flat out replaces the Old Testament.
It makes a newcomer very confusing... and while a priest might be nice having these annotated somewhere would be nice.
This came up because I'm dating a girl who is Christian and her family is Christian.
I want to be able to find common ground with them. We have much more in common than our differences and I think sometimes one needs to focus on being productive.
