Should we change the term "common courtesy" to something else like "exceptional courtesy"?
Is it really "common" anymore? Is it a common reaction to help someone who has tripped and fallen on the floor? Is it a common occurrence when when someone picks up trash off the floor so somebody won't have to do it later or when a person offers another a pen or pencil when they clearly don't have one without being asked to beforehand? Is Good Guy Greg common?
It is my view that these acts fall under the realm of common courtesy; it is also my view that these are not common. Should the term "common courtesy" be changed to something along the lines of "uncommon courtesy" or "exceptional courtesy" because the people who do the things mentioned before certainly are not common.
