Adult Hook-Up Sites: Have you ever been contacted or contacted someone for a hook up, and after identity revealing photos are shared, you realize you know them from work, family, friends, etc.?

Throwaway here, as our Reddit username and adult site username are the same

My husband and I are on an adult hook up site to meet up with people for an occasional threesome from time to time. We keep our photos pretty anonymous in that we crop out faces, make sure any tattoos aren’t visible, make sure parts of our house can’t be noticed, etc. Basically all the things a couple would need to do to maintain some bit on anonymity on a public site. We live in a large Metropolitan area, so there is a large selection of people from our area on the site.

We’ve met a few nice people, and have never come across anyone we knew in our life outside of swinging. That is, until this week. We received a message from a man who is in his 40’s. He told us that he has viewed our profile many times and has wanted to contact us for a while. He mentioned that his wife lets him play on the side, but our discretion was very important due to his career. He attached a photo of himself, face included. As soon as I saw the photo my jaw dropped. I recognized him as a man (let’s call him Jim), that I have worked fairly close with over the past 7 years. Jim is an Executive, pretty high up in the company. Not only did the photo reveal his identity, but the same way he signed his initial in the email, is the exact way he signs his name in business related emails.

Of course I had to look at his profile (curiosity got the better of me), and thankfully his photos were tame, but not tame enough to keep my brain from thinking about it when I see him in the office. Needless to say I didn’t respond. He has no idea that it was me he contacted, and I plan to keep it that way. While I don’t think he is a malicious person, it’s probably not going to be a settling thought for him, that I know this part of his life.

When seeking a casual hook up, have you ever had that moment you realized you knew them? I bet this is a lot more common than I realized. If so, did you tell them? Did they know that it was you? How did it affect your relationship with that person? Was it awkward? Ever busted a cheater? And any other interesting outcomes from the experience.

*Edit: The photos on his profile and the one he sent us must be over 5 years old, as he looks much older now. The photos looked more like him when I started working with him 7+ years ago. I couldn't help but think, false advertising.
