Reddit: If I go to Japan next year...

Will I look like this?

I just did an image search in Google for radiation poisoning!!!

My girlfriend and I are traveling to Manila, Philippines and we want to spend a long weekend in Japan on the way to Manila. I just wanted to get some advice from my fellow Redditors before making the plane ticket purchase.

The current Nuclear Crisis is still ongoing in Fukushima. No matter what anyone says this is not something that is going to go away anytime soon. My concern is more towards the impact this will have on my 3-4 days in Tokyo.

I don't believe I will be any further north than Tokyo so I am not worried about radiation from being within proximity of the power plant itself but what about purchasing clothing, food (particularly produce) and electronics? Can I expect any exposure and or should I even care if the amounts are minimal enough?

Tell me if I am being stupid I can take it. I just like to be prepared if that's even possible.

TL,DR; Is travel to Tokyo safe or will I become Akira if I eat the food?

Thank you as always Reddit!
