Poe, Hawthorne, Melville term paper. Any helpful insights?

I am writing a paper and I have a basic idea for my topic which is that these three authors used dark imagery and demonic figures to explain how man is incapable of truly seizing on to the transcendental movement that Throreau and Emerson so often spoke of. I need to turn that shit into FIVE pages!! Doesn't seem like a big deal I just am blanking on how to beef up the content. Any help would be truly appreciated.
