The "Occupy [location]" is becoming a trend. This is not a good thing.
Lately, I've been seeing all kinds of derivative movements that, while noble and justified, are making the original movement, Occupy Wallstreet, much less significant.
It's like "Occupy" is now related with any kind of grassroots movement that is politically dissatisfied. I think that this makes Occupy Wallstreet less focused: people are bound to think that all of these Occupy movements, which do not share OW's primary focus, are all linked, or are all under the same organization. As a result, Occupy Wallstreet will eventually be lumped together with all of the other movements, making ALL of them ineffective. I think that Occupy Wallstreet's purpose should be preserved.
I'm not saying that people should stop protesting something, but I don't think everyone should jump on the "Occupy" bandwagon.
Thoughts?
