What are the advantages and disadvantages of buying my new phone from the Verizon store vs Costco or some other retailer?
So I've been due for my upgrade and I'm anxiously awaiting the Galaxy Nexus like many of you here. I'm weighing the pros and cons of getting my phone from the Verizon store or maybe Costco. I bought my last phone mistakenly, in my youthful ignorance, from an Authorized Retailer vs the actual Verizon store, so when I had an issue, I had an HTC Droid Eris so I'm actually on my 4th because of the same trackball problem on all of them, with the insurance I had to jump through a few hoops. Anyway here are my thoughts thus far and I'd love some feedback.
Verizon Pros: No worries about the insurance shenanigans. That's about it Cons: None that I can really think of except I'm not especially eager to run to their store and buy it from them after all this. I realize they will still get most of the money from my purchase regardless of where I buy it, but I'll feel better getting it else where.
Costco Pros: Will be cheaper and prob come with some free accessories and will make me feel better about the membership dues for buying something expensive. Cons: The guy I talked to there seemed a little shakey on the details, but seems like they have a larger deductible and since it won't be the Verizon insurance there maybe hoops to jump through if I have a claim.
So anyone who has had experience with Costco phone buying or thoughts on the topic in general would be greatly appreciated.
