What do I wear to a really cold xmas party?

Hi Reddit,

I'm attending a company holiday party which is taking place at a museum (really high ceilings= super cold temperatures). I don't want to repeat last years mistake and spend the night shivering. The dress is formal (not ball gowns.. but certainly not casual). I'm super fashion inept. Any ideas?
