Where to find inexpensive Android phones?

A few months ago, I rooted my OG Droid, and it was a fiasco that nearly killed me and my phone. I want to learn more about it and try different ROMs, but I want to do it on something I can break risk-free. Where are some good places to find older, outdated, and inexpensive phones?
