For those who get stuck in a "Free will and why suffering exists" debate with a Christian.
I was searching today for some counter arguments on the suffering and free will arguments a lot of us run into and found this gem from user voidwhereprohibited over a year ago.
"Free will" is always the catch-all answer to why evil and suffering exist. But if there's no evil or suffering in heaven, then either 1) there is no free will in heaven or 2) there is free will in heaven, but evil and suffering aren't necessary for free will.
If 1 is true, and eternity without free will is paradise, why make mankind with free will in the first place? If 2 is true, why make mankind with free will and capacity for evil rather than free will and no capacity for evil? Neither makes any sense at all.
