Already a professional in the game industry?
Hi all! I just wanted to bring something up: I imagine some people in this subreddit are actually employed in the game industry, and are here because, well, this is an awesome project.
I'd like to vote (the final decision isn't mine of course, so this is just my opinion) that this project be kept primarily to those who are not currently employed in the game industry. As I understand it, the project that Profound7 is embarking upon is to get experience, and ideally eventually get a job in games. That is also my goal here (also because it sounds like a lot of fun, and a great learning project). I believe it's why a lot of people came here.
SO, while I can't wait to get into these projects, I also feel threatened by the idea that some lurkers out there are going to swoop up the spots on these games owing to their superior skill and experience because they've already been involved making games.
I also recognize that people who are employed making games will have some very valuable knowledge to share, and we can (and I hope we will!) learn a lot from them.
But, if I had a say in the matter, I'd respectfully request that these games be built by not-yet-professionals.
Um, thoughts? Discuss.
Edit: just added some more reasons why I think we're here :)
