DAE not care at all about germs?

I hear all the time about people who think every single little germ is absolutely disgusting, but personally I have never shared this idea. I grew up outside a medium size city and was allowed to be dirty and not to worry about it all the time. To go even further, my mom was a vet and I often would go out and play with sick animals at her hospital and then go eat right afterwards, because I was not at all worried about it. I am just curious if anyone else feels the same way.
