Is it bad for my computer if I put RAM meant for a MacBook (2008) into an iMac (2011)?

Didn't have a problem inserting it into the slot. I ordered RAM for both my iMac and MacBook but mixed them up.

I'm using my iMac to type this and it does show the new RAM but I'm not sure if it will damage anything.
